The aim of BioREg is to establish a decentralised and material flexible biogenic waste refinery. It should be able to handle any biogenic waste and the construction should be profitable in any size.
So far, biogenic waste like lop, leaves or straw were only used as compost or in the production of biogas. But there is a lot of waste which is thrown away. This was the motivation for a team from the “wood” competence centre to launch the project “BioREG” together with four industrial partners. The aim is to establish a new, robust bio refinery which can deal with various kinds of biogenic waste. This innovation can set another step toward the independence from fossil fuels.
The construction should be profitable in any size. Its main focus lays on materials which are poorly biodegradable and first need a special modification. Therefore, “LX-technique” from Germany is the key technology in the refinery.
The project “BioREg” examines the reutilization of different materials as well as the potential of such a refinery.
