This project deals with solutions to facilitate the use of digital devices by people with disabilities. It is done by building blocks with flexible and adaptable AT functions.
AsTeRICS (Assistive Technology Rapid Integration & Construction Set) is an open source software framework which offers building blocks to facilitate the use of technology by people with disabilities. Thus, they can have access to standard computers, to devices/systems in the environment as well as to mobile devices and other services. AsTeRICS offers building blocks with flexible and adaptable AT functions (Assistive Technology) which help disabled persons to get along in our rapidly changing digital age and modern smart environments.
The project was developed by various partners from different EU nations through a research project financed by the EU. Currently, it’s an open-source project with more than 180 plugins and constantly growing.
