Quebec’s Smart Energy Network (RQEI) develops smarter regions through the production of scientific knowledge, innovative technologies and knowledge transfer through teaching and learning. Thus, supporting the energy transition in Quebec and elsewhere in the world.
The RQEI has brought together vital forces of energy research from Quebec. The internationally recognized expertise of its researchers extends to all areas related from green energy production to storage and conversion and its various applications in all consumer sectors. The reality of energy in the twenty-first century requires that it be approached globally, since its multiple components, closely interrelated, form a complex system. Consequently, it is not only relevant, but essential to regroup all researchers around common objectives therefore creating a coherent and, “smart” research program.
RQEI’s work contributes to the improvement of energy efficiency, considered today as one of Quebec’s priorities, and facilitates the consumption of smarter energy. In addition, RQEI serves as a reference organization regarding energy challenges for society, industry and public authorities. In collaboration with their international colleagues, Quebec researchers are mobilizing to give a decisive boost to the decarbonization process, which aims to reduce anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and stabilize global temperatures. Through collaborative research, the RQEI is a major contributor to the energy transition.
